Social Interaction For Children With Autism - 3206 Words

Most children have a hard enough time fitting in and building friendships. Social interaction for children with autism can be even more difficult (Burrows, 2008). For several of these children having a companion dog can make all the difference. Dogs like any other animal will not judge a child; they do not care how popular a child is or how they look or even how he or she forms sentences. The continuous companionship and friendship of such a devoted creature can help a child with autism build confidence (Beaumont, 2008). Companion dogs accompany their partner to doctor s appointments, restaurants, sporting events, and other public places. The only place the companion animal will not attend is school (Beaumont, 2008). Many children who have a hard time coping with change find that having a constant companion can help them deal with transitions from place to place and can add a bit of consistency to each day. In this respect, the dog serves as a focal point for the child (Heward, 2006). Defining Autism Spectrum Disorder According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) is a developmental disability characterised by impaired social functioning and communication skills (Burrows, 2008). Attention and research relating to the study of ASD is of much interest to professionals at this time, largely due to its prevalence, increased need for provision of services and resources, and the degree of limitation this disorderShow MoreRelatedSocial Interaction And Children With Autism Spectrum Disorders2457 Words   |  10 PagesSocial interaction is defined as â€Å"a process of reciprocal stimulation and response between two people. Sleep Disorders Needs Assessment And Rationale - 1367 Words

Needs Assessment and Rationale While there are several sleep disorders that can cause an individual to experience the effects of insufficient sleep, insomnia is one of the more common culprits. It is characterized by consistent troubles falling and staying asleep, as well as untimely early rising and an overall sense of subpar sleep quality. These night time symptoms consequently translate to excessive daytime fatigue, a reduced ability to focus and functional impairment (Stanford Medicine, 2011). While many will experience trouble sleeping at certain points in life, these symptoms must persist over an extended period of time to be labelled as short-term or chronic insomnia. In order to diagnose short-term insomnia, the aforementioned symptoms must be observed for at least one month. If the symptoms continue over a period of six months, the condition is classified as chronic (Stanford Medicine, 2011). Several studies have been dedicated to this precise disorder, due to its widespread prevalence in the general population. In the United States, it is estimated that roughly one in ten adult individuals currently suffer from clinical insomnia (Vand et al, 2014). Current literature indicates that a similar proportion of university students are affected, approximately one in eight students (Joshi et al, 2015). Evidence also suggests that females and single individuals are more at risk for insomnia (Vand et al, 2014). Critical Lense Essay Free Essays

Critical Lens Essay â€Å"Nothing can cure the soul but the senses, just as nothing can cure the senses but the soul† says Lord Henry, in Oscar Wilde’s The Picture of Dorian Gray. This quote essentially describes that one’s mind can only be purified through one’s awareness of one’s surroundings and actions. It also shows that one can only view the world with an open-mind if one’s soul is purified. We will write a custom essay sample on Critical Lense Essay or any similar topic only for you Order Now Purification is the innocence of one’s soul, and the goodness of it. This idea is expressed in The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde, when Dorian Gray writes Sibyl Vane a letter proposing to marry her. This idea is also seen in Lord of the Flies by William Golding when Ralph and the other boys stranded on the island are found by an English trooper. Firstly, when Ralph and the other boys finally adapt to their environment of the deserted island and work together toward being saved, they start to purify their soul because the boys learn from their horrific actions on the island. For example, Piggy and Simon were two boys who were killed by the other boys. â€Å"Ralph launched himself like a cat; stabbed, snarling, with the spear, and the savage doubled up. This quote shows how Ralph acted like a monster, the use of alliteration increasing the intensity for the irrational behavior. Because of their rowdy behavior, the boys learned how the deserted island had influenced them to morph from proper English boys to cruel animals. The boys finally realize what the environment of the deserted island has turned them into and can see what their good deed of working together has done for themà ¢â‚¬â€œbeing found by the English trooper and saved from becoming any more uncivilized. The boys were once blinded by the idea of survival but once they were found this idea soon disappeared because of the goodness in their Therefore the boys’ senses were cured by their souls and because the boys became aware of their surroundings, their souls in turn become pure. Finally, when Dorian Gray tells Sibyl Vane that he does not love her anymore because of her terrible acting one night in a play, Sibyl Vane becomes heart-broken. Dorian contemplates his thoughts once he returns home and decides that what he did to her was wrong, and he writes a letter to her asking her to marry him. Dorian was acting selfishly before, not realizing what he had said to Sibyl and its dramatic effect it has on her. â€Å"What are you now? A third-rate actress with a pretty face† were his words to her, harsh and like a slap in the face if you. This dramatic monologue shows the cruelty in Dorian’s actions toward Sibyl and how they made him feel guilty later on. When Dorian writes the letter, he purifies his soul because he learns that what he did to Sibyl was wrong and that he should try to amend his mistakes. This good action causes Dorian’s soul to be cured because his senses push him to learn from his faults. If Dorian did not learn from his mistake, he would not care about what Sibyl would be going through, and therefore his soul would still be tarnished. Because of his senses, Dorian realizes his blunder and tries to fix it, in turn making him pure and noble. Ultimately, both Dorian Gray from The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde and the stranded boys from Lord of the Flies by William Golding were curing their souls by their senses and curing their senses by their souls. This idea in theory seems to be one with flaws, but as one can realize now, one’s mind is something that needs to be cleansed of, and removed of sin in order to think properly and sanely. This can only be done through understanding one’s environment and one’s actions. Without sanity, one has no way of having a purely good soul. It is a part of human nature to act radical, but what is also part of human nature is to accept one’s mistakes and attempt to reform them. How to cite Critical Lense Essay, Essays

Salomon And Separate Legal Entity Doctrine -Myassignmenthelp.Com

Question: Discuss About The Salomon And Separate Legal Entity Doctrine? Answer: Introducation In Australia, when any person wish to carry out business, then, he can do so by operating as a sole trader (a single person), or by forming a partnership (two or more persons) or by incorporating a company (separate legal entity) as per the provisions of the corporation Act2001[1]. Now, if any sole trader or a partnership organization intends to convert their business in the form of a company then there is series of steps that must be comply with. Once the steps of incorporation are met then a company is formed which is an artificial legal person in the eyes of law and is held in Salomon vASalomon Co Ltd[2]. A company acts like a natural person with the help of officers and directors and all the acts which are undertaken by such officers are in the name of the company alone and will not hold the officers liable for the same. This segregation of the company from its directors is called separate legal personality of the company and is only acquired by the company once it is registered[3]. Thus, the steps that are required for the incorporation of the company are submitted herein below[4]: Whenever any person intends to run his business by way of a company then it is necessary that he must first decide the kind of company he wishes to operate. Normally the companies are divided into two kinds: Public There are four kinds of public companies that are normally found, that is, limited by shares, limited by guarantee, unlimited with share capital and no liability. Proprietary - These are not public companies and are normally of two kinds: A proprietary company limited by share An unlimited company with share capital If any person intends to operate by way of a proprietary company then there are few compliances that needs to be made, that is,[5] At least have one shareholder (section 114 of the Corporation Act, 2001) At least 50 non-employees shareholders (section113 of the Act) At least 1 director and one director must ordinary reside in Australia (section 201A of the Act) May have one or more secretary and if the company has a secretary then one must ordinary reside in Australia (section 204A of the Act); No requirement that the office to be kept open for public; Once the kind of company is decided, the next step that is required is to decide the name of the company. It is very necessary that the proposed name should be distinct and should not be identical/similar with any company, business or trade name. While dealing the name precautions must be taken to not to include words such as bank, ANZAC, consumer, however, if the government approval is taken then they can be used. However, if the name is offensive, illegal, with connections with royal families, misleading, obscene, or associating with any ex-servicemen's organizations, then such name are not permissible to be kept as the name of the company. Prior registration of the company it is also required that the officers must decide as how to operate the company. A company can be operated by establishment of a constitution. If the company does not want to indulge into any kind of documentation, then, the company can also operate its management by way of replaceable rules. Also, companies are also allowed to operate the management of the company with the help of both the constitution and replaceable rules; Share details When the company is formed then it is required that the share details of the company must be mentioned. If the company is limited by shares, then, how much share capital is due and how much is paid must be mentioned. If the company is unlimited with share capital then the details of the shares must be provided. The officeholder must also be acquainted with the obligations which they must comply with when the company is registered. The obligations includes to update the statements of the company, to pay annual review fees, to pass a solvency resolution, to notify ASIC when any changes are made in regard to office address, joining of new office holder or if the share structure of the company is changed. The financial records of the company must be kept up to date[6]. Also, prior appointing any company secretary or director or any member it is necessary that requite consent of the entire person must be taken. The registered office of the company must be selected. If the company does not own the office then it is necessary that the approval of the owner of the office premises must be taken prior making the premises as the head office of the company. When all the above requirements are made then the applicant must make an application in Form 201 to ASIC along with the required fees. Once the application is processed by ASIC, then, the company is registered and a certificate, Corporate key and ACN is provided to the company. As soon as the company is registered the name of the company must be displayed, the ACN number must be published on all documents. Application of law It is submitted that since Richard now wants to covert his sole trader ship in the form of a company along with his son, Liam and David, then, it is necessary that he must operate his business by way of a limited company as their sole intention is to limit their liability and seek tax advantages. However, they must fulfill all the requirements of the process of registration. They can keep the name of their company as Ridali as the same is not offensive or illegal and has no association with any Royal family or any government organization. Also, it is not similar in nature. The name Rich Guarantee olives is misleading in nature as it portrays an image of a guarantee olives that are supplied by the company of Richard. To formulate a company there are series of steps that are required. Once the steps are comply with then there is incorporation of the company. Upon incorporation, a company is considered to be a separate legal entity in law. The separate legal entity characteristics of the company submits that the acts or omissions that are taken by the officers by on behalf of the company will bind the company alone and the officers will not be held accountable for the same. This, distinct personality of the company is very important as the directors and officers are considered to be the acts of the company[7]. But, there are situations wherein this distinct personality of the company is disregarded by the courts and the acts that are taken by the directors and officers are not considered to be the acts of the company alone, rather, the acts are imposed upon the officers. This is called piercing the corporate veil of the company and there are instances when the piercing of the veil is required in order to bring justice and fairness[8]. Some of the instances wherein the veil of the company is pierced and the situation amid the company and its officers are disregarded. The same are: Sham or faade When the company is established by the controllers but the real intention is not established then it is an action of facade and sham and in such situation the company is not regarded as a separate legal entity in the eyes of aw. The acts of the company are considered to be the acts of its officers and they are held personally liable for the consequences and is held in Creasey v Breachwood Motors Ltd[9] Subsidiary and holding company A subsidiary is the company who is owned by the holding company, that is, the holding company secured more than 50% shares in the subsidiary company. Normally, the subsidiary company is distinct from the holding company and the acts of the subsidiary company are not regarded as the acts of the holding company. But, there are few situations wherein the veil amid the holding and the subsidiary company is pierced and the cats of the subsidiary company are considered to be the acts of the holding company. the same are: Tortuous acts When the acts of the subsidiary are such that it results in any tortuous wrongs and such wrongs are reasonably foreseeable by the holding company and the holding company is controlling the actions of the subsidiary company, then, the acts of the subsidiary will fall upon the holding company and it is the holding company which us held liable for such tortuous acts. In CSR v Young[10], the acts of the subsidiary company resulted in causing harm to its employees. In such situation the aggrieved party can sue the holding company for the negligent actions of the subsidiary provided there is proximity and reasonable forseeability. Implied agency When the subsidiary company is undertaking act or omission not under its own management but is 100% controlled by the holding company, then, the subsidiary company is held to be the agent of the holding company and the holding company will be liable for the acts of the subsidiary. In such situation the veil is priced and the subsidiary and the holding company is regarded as one company and is held in Smith, Stone and Knight v Birmingham Corporation[11]. Establishment of subsidiary is an act of Sham or faade When the aim of incorporating the subsidiary company is to cause fraud or sham or faade then the veil amid the subsidiary and the holding company is pierced and is held in Dennis Willcox Pty Ltd v Federal Commissioner of Taxation[12]. Also, many a times, if any company is indulged in any wrong and the shareholders of the company are not willing to take any action alginate such wrong, then, the law under section 236 of the Act has authorized the officers and members (including former and employees) to make an application of Statutory Derivative Action against such wrongs. The court on being satisfied that the application is made in good faith, in the companys best interest and the matter is of serious concern can look into the application and can make orders of the winding upon of the company under section 237 of the Act. Action against Lazarus Pty Ltd The Lazarus Pty Ltd is the company that is incorporated by CMS so that their own company is wind up. The main aim for the winding up of CMS and establishment of Lazarus Pty Ltd is so that the debt that is incurred because of the actions of CMS cannot be paid and CMS can protect itself. Thus, the creation of Lazarus Pty Ltd is an act of Sham and faade and thus the veil must be pierced and CMS and Lazarus Pty Ltd must be regarded as one. So, Terry can take action against Lazarus Pty Ltd. Action against CMS Terry can prove that the shareholders of CMS will not bring any proceedings against the wrong committed by CMS and thus by establishing the elements of Section 237 of the Act, Terry can bring derivative action against CMS. Action against CM CM is the holding company of CMS and is controlling all the actions of CMS. Now, the act which causes the harm to the residents and Terry are also governed under the instruction of CM. CM can reasonably foresee the impact of the act of CMS and they are in proximate relationship. Thus, the veil must be lifted and CM must be held liable for the actions of CMS. Conclusion It is thus concluded that Terry can take action against CMS, CM and Lazarus Pty Ltd by lifting the corporate veil of the companies. Impact of the Deutscher Werkbund and the Arts and Crafts Movement on Design

General overview The Arts and Crafts movement occurred as a result of the conflict of design, structure, and materials when designers and artists refused to apply the principle of contemporary design to the architectural objects, decorations, sculpture, and installations. This became a challenge to the existing principles and the same designers that were advocating the use of inappropriate materials earlier had established new rules for the application.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Impact of the Deutscher Werkbund and the Arts and Crafts Movement on Design specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More In this respect, the Arts and Crafts movement in design signified the birth of the new direction in theory and practice which had drawn a wide response all over the world. The major influence of this movement can be observed in Britain and the United States of America where the major principles of this style were applied to a rchitectural objects, installations, furniture, embroidery, and other items. Three significant philosophical ideals of the movement Ideals manifested in the 19th century. The ideals of the Arts and Crafts movement manifested in the 19th century included the denial of the artificial structures and decorations; the designers sought to create more natural looks and outfits to reach the naturally appropriate materials. As such, rural design is the first of the three significant ideals of this movement because the natural outfit was valued and the natural materials as well as motifs were used in the design in various applications. The second significant ideal of the Arts and Crafts movement can be seen through the reality prism as the objects were made to look as real as possible. In this respect, some objects such as sculptures and installations were left unfinished to make them look more natural and realistic. The same factor was applied to design where different decorative elements su ch as carpets, vases, wallpapers, and other items were made with the help of simple but natural ornaments that would not distract the observer’s attention from the object decorated with a particular element. The third significant ideal is the quality of materials which can be considered to have influenced the modernism as the style in architecture and design. Besides, the quality of materials was questioned in terms of the appropriateness of materials to the objects made of them. For instance, the natural fabrics, objects made of wood and glass were introduced into the mass production whereas inappropriate materials were eliminated from usage. To sum up, the three significant ideals of the Arts and Crafts movement manifested in the 19th century include rural elements/motifs, real/natural look which was sometimes reached through unfinished works, and quality of materials.Advertising Looking for essay on art? Reflections of the Arts and Crafts movement can be seen all over the world while the movement itself became the origin and inspiration for other movements and style in different types of media such as books, sculpture, furniture, installations, and architecture. Alois Riegl from Vienna created a book Historical Grammar of the Visual Arts in 1905 (Figure 1) which reflects the rules and principles of the Arts and /crafts movement and indicates the basic forms of arts where this style can be applied. The arts was seen by this Viennese philosopher as the process because it progressed and suggested changes concepts and forms for application. The next example of reflection of the Arts and Crafts movement can be seen in the applications by Henry Van de Velde in Nietzsche Archive, Villa Silberblick in Weimar created in 1903 (Figure 2). This can be regarded as one of the most natural and authentic looks from those cre ated in the same period. The author managed to apply woodworks and pastel colors to the room where nothing inappropriate can be seen. The covings are the continuing elements of the bookshelves that surround the room making it look more like a completed unit with specific lines, structures, and shapes. The third work that reflects the tendencies and main principles of the Arts and crafts movement is the Office Swivel Chair created for the Larkin Building in Buffalo, NY by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1904 (Figure 3). The use of such a chair can be really convenient due to its mobility because of the castors which help to move the chair without lifting it up or moving it across the room and scratching the floor. The armrests are designed for additional convenience of using this item of furniture and add to functional value and regarded as a prototype of modern office chairs. The fourth reflection is the Thonet Bentwood Chair created in Vienna by Thonet Brothers in 1885 (Figure 4). This examp le can be considered the one that shaped the shapes of ordinary chairs because the designers used stream to bend the wooden details and apply them further to the furniture design. In this respect, they have contributed greatly to the chair design of the entire era in world history of art and design.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Impact of the Deutscher Werkbund and the Arts and Crafts Movement on Design specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More The fifth reflection of the Arts and Crafts movement is the Executive Office that was demonstrated during The Architect and Industrial Arts Exhibition in the Met, NY designed by Raymond Hood in 1929 (Figure 5). This office has the floral design on the windows as one of the major principles that governed this movement. Simplicity and naturally looking outfit. At the same time, the combination of art and design can be seen here where the table and chairs are created as technologic ally advanced elements aimed at making the use of such furniture more convenient. The sixth reflection is the Living Area of the Hollyhock House in Los Angeles, CA designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in the period of 1916 – 1921 (Figure 6). The lines of the room seem to contribute greatly to its shape, the use of woodworks makes the interior look really natural and inspired by rural motifs. Stone cladding was used for columns of the room; indirect lighting of the room is applied to reach the effect of inner light and make all the angles and corners visible. Conclusion The arts and Crafts movement reshaped the design of the Baroque and rococo furniture and buildings with the help of critical evaluation of the decoration and installation elements applied to the design objects of the time. The application of the movement ideas and main principles became a world-wide trend and designers and artists all over the words tried to use more natural and appropriate materials, unfinished look s, and rural motifs and elements in various types of media they were creating. The three significant ideals of the movement were effectively reflected in architecture, furniture, books, and other objects designed by Alois Riegl, Henry Van de Velde, Frank Lloyd Wright, and many other famous designers in different countries. Ban These 15 Words From Your Writing

Ban These 15 Words From Your Writing Streamlined writing is an automatic way to present yourself as polished and professional.   The next time you write an important email, report, or even a quick note, check to see if you can delete any of the following before sending- your writing will be better for it. 1. Thatâ€Å"That† is a part of speech most people use without thinking. It’s often totally unnecessary! Here are 4 sentences using â€Å"that†- see which ones are totally acceptable without it!1. A) â€Å"She said that she would be late.†2. B) â€Å"That puppy is the cutest thing ever.†3. C) â€Å"Did you hear about that explosion?†4. D) â€Å"You should pick up the books that are on the floor†Choices A and D can function perfectly well without â€Å"that† cluttering up their momentum. â€Å"You should pick up the books on the floor† and â€Å"She said she would be late† seem so light and airy now! Also, stop using â€Å"that† to refer to pe ople. â€Å"The people that piled out of the car†? No! â€Å"The people who piled out of the car.† Because they are people, car or no car.2. WentSometimes â€Å"went† as in the past tense of â€Å"go† is the shortest distance between two points, but you also miss an opportunity to establish information about how whoever got wherever- did she race, fly, hurry, dawdle, drive, carom, or drift?3. HonestlyI have to do a find and replace in my essays for â€Å"honestly† all the time- it falls under the heading of what I call â€Å"throat clearing† with my students. I use it as a moment to pause and then convey earnestness, but the thing is, what it actually suggests is that you haven’t been honest this whole time.4. AbsolutelyThere is a time and a place for emphasis. But unless you’re writing marketing or publicity copy, you probably don’t need the EXTREME INSISTENCE of something being absolute.5. VeryWe use â€Å"very† to strengthen our intention, but it often winds up watering it down instead. Make your sentence stand on its own!6. ReallySimilarly, â€Å"really† gives an illusion of intensification without adding much meaning at all.7. AmazingThe New York Mets are amazing. They â€Å"cause great surprise or sudden wonder† because for a long time they have been terrible at playing baseball and finally this year, they are good at it. Outside of Citifield, though, â€Å"amazing† is so overexposed that nothing is really that impressive. Certainly not impressive enough to earn the name.8. AlwaysWhenever you work in absolutes (see â€Å"absolutely†) you are in a black or white zone. There’s no nuance in â€Å"always,† there’s no space for growth or revision. Unless you’re giving instructions or outlining procedure, give some wiggle room.9. NeverI refer you to the above.10. LiterallyThis is one of those words that started getting used for comedic effect and has taken over our lexicon. Did this actually happen? No? Is it a metaphor? Yes? Then why are we clinging to this mass illusion that so many things are actually happening?11. JustThis is something women get hyper-criticized for using, when the truth is it weakens anyone’s writing  to diminish their contribution by beginning with â€Å"I was just going to say†¦Ã¢â‚¬ Use â€Å"just† when you’re talking about fairness or impartiality, otherwise leave it in the drawer.12. MaybeAnother one that women get extra criticized for, despite the chilly reception we often get when we make firm  statements. If you’re sure, sound sure!13. StuffI had a student in one of my classes announce her fantasy story was taking place in the Kingdom of Stuff, on Stuff Island. She’s 8. We can forgive her. Are you 8?14. ThingsDitto â€Å"Stuff†15. IrregardlessPut this in a lockbox at the bottom of the sea along with â€Å"supposably.†It may take a while to (metaphorically) eliminate  these words from your brain, but adding in an extra mental filter when you edit should help you sharpen your writing and improve your persuasiveness immediately. Cut out the filler, the throat-clearing, the circling around, and you’ll find you come through on the page with more clarity and staying power.

Stop the Bullying Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2500 words

Stop the Bullying - Essay Example Although there is no universal definition of bullying it is widely thought to be a negative behavior which reflects aggressiveness through which the person intends to harm and hurt the victim. Farrington (1993), an English criminologist, defined bullying as: â€Å"Repeated oppression, psychological or physical, of a less powerful person by a more powerful person.† This, however, is the definition of when the bully is an individual although it is very often seen that bullying is also done in groups. Thus, for that purpose a more fitted and revised definition could be: Bullying is repeated oppression, psychological or physical, of a less powerful person by a more powerful or group of persons (Rigby, 2007, p. 15). The bully keeps on acting that way and the victim is helpless in that that he cannot defend himself from the bully (Olweus, 1999). Concisely, bullying can be referred to as the â€Å"systematic abuse of power†. And here power does not necessarily refer to physica l strength, but it could also be emotional or mental. For instance, a bully may have a more powerful personality, might be mentally tougher, have ambition and be insensitive. Bullying may happen in several contexts, such as childhood as well as adulthood. Nevertheless, bullying has been, and still is, most associated with schools. Bullying could be conducted by a group or by one person alone. Normally it is supposed that bullying occurs between students; however, it is possible for there to be a teacher-pupil and pupil-teacher bullying too. The general idea of bullying is also that it involves beating and physical violence – the larger and older child hurting the weaker one – but again, there also exists verbal bullying, wherein the bully teases and hurls verbal abuses at his victim; indirect bullying in which the bully socially manipulates the victim and uses him for attacks within the class; and relational bullying which refers to disrupting peace between peers and h arming their relationship. This could be done by talking bad about others, spreading rumors, and socially excluding people. A more recent form has been cyberbullying – bullying others over the internet (Smith, 2013). It is about time that bullying is addressed and reduced. It is an intolerable behavior due to the way the powerless victim is physically, verbally or psychologically oppressed by the bully and for no rhyme or reason. Bullying among adults is not tolerated – we also raise voice against domestic abuse between a husband and his wife, and between the parents and their children. However, school bullying has not been addressed to the same extent (Rigby, 2007). How children become bullies â€Å"When you really take a close look at bullying, it's happening with kids who feel the need to be aggressive after being treated in an aggressive manner themselves†¦ They're the kids who may be suffering from abuse or from just not having their needs met at school or a t home† - Paul Quinlan (Hopson, 2002). According to Quinlan 2-16% of the below-18 age group bullies each other. Here a very important factor to probe into is how a child becomes a bully. That is the root cause of the problem and therefore it needs to be understood in order to solve the issue. More often than not, children dealing with difficult situations at home end up bullying others to regain the lost self-esteem and feel important and worthy. Such situations could be fights between their parents, financial problems, a drunkard parent who abuses them, and so on. Many times the bully

Luckily, a lonely couple who dont has any kids adopt him. When Jobs is a kid, he is smart, naughty, wanton, and often come up with mischief, nevertheless he gets outstanding academic records. At that time, Jobs lived near the famous Silicon Valley where many of his neighbors are Silicon Valley veteran of Hewlett-Packard, under the influence of these people, he fall in love with electronic. The first time he saw the computer is in a party of HP employee, and began to crazy about it. When he was in the junior high, he met Stephen Gary Wozniak (Aug. 11 1950) who is five years older than him and latterly became the most important person in his career. Woz is the president of e-club and also have great interest in electronics so the two hit it off. They founded Apple Computer together e ight years later. When he was 19 as a freshman of college, he suddenly came up with an idea to get a job in a computer game company and drop the school. Soon after, he became interested in Buddhism quit the job and travel overseas to India to be the apprentice of the master. After he fails he came back to USA and work in the previous company to be an engineer. After many setbacks, he finally decided to settle down and work on his interests as before. With Woz jobs spend day and night in his garage doing all kinds of experiment and dreaming about having a personal computer. After exploring the market he found out, computer at that time are all giant computer for commercial usage and quite expensive. So they think about developing a personal computer by themselves, but the corn part of the computerthe 8080 chip costs $270 and wont sell to the individual client other than public company. Finally, they find another 6502 chip 6502 which almost has the same quality with the chip 8080 made by inter company and the prize if much lower, it only cost $20 for each piece. They went back to the garage with the chip and starts their innovation of computer world. After several weeks, they finally finish their first piece of worka personal computer. But at that time they dont what their work means to the future electronic world, it is the first personal computer and is a brand new concept to most of the people by that time. All of their friends was so shocked and Steve and his friend tried everything they can to raise money for the bulk production. On the fools day of 1976, Jobs and Woz and one of Jobs friends Ronald Wayne together sign a contract and decide to establish the apple companies with the well know logo an apple bit by somebody. And the computer itself was named as the Apple I Abandoned by the company he established At that time Apple didnt have a good business, even though the computer is quite amazing for those who love electronic, for the common person they dont know what this machine used for. Their first big order is a 50 one made by a salesman. And then they began to receive more and more orders, and Jobs began to consider of bulk production. Unfortunately, few people would like to invest until a successful salesman provide a huge amount of loan to them and help them develops a business plan. On the first computer fair held on the west coast, Apple II attracted so much attention and thousands of customers crowd around their exhibition hope to buy one. Apple came to a peak in 1980 when the company went public. All the shares were sold out within an hour, and Steve Jobs became one of the richest men in USA. He receives the National Technology Medal granted by President Ronald Reagan. However failure seems always comes with huge success, Steves business philosophy always differs from other people and the IBM began to grow up swallow apples market share quickly. Nearly everyone think its Steves fault to have such a bad business. On September 17, 1985 he quit his job, leave the company he set up. He insist to sell the hardware and software together as a package and this stop the companys expansion speed à ¨Ã‚ µÃ‚ ¶Ãƒ ¨Ã‚ µÃ‚ °Ãƒ ¦Ã‚ ½Ã…“à ¥Ã…“ ¨Ãƒ §Ã… ¡Ã¢â‚¬Å¾Ãƒ ¥Ã‚ ®Ã‚ ¢Ãƒ ¦Ã‹â€ Ã‚ ·Ãƒ ¯Ã‚ ¼Ã…’do everything by themselves, that is one of the reasons why he fail. December 17, 1996 is a remarkable day for Apple and the entire computer industry. Steve Jobs came back and with an even greater passion on Apple, because he never forgets his dream. By the time he went back he start to reform and restructure the traditional operation and administration in the company. To everybodys amazement, he picks up the relationship with Microsoft which is the biggest competitor at that time. Just like before, he spent a lot of effort inventing new computers. His effort pays off until iMac, a brand new design computer occurred in the market with the famous motto I think, therefore iMac. He always keeps himself busy and company start to make profit again. Before he came back companys balance show a negative number of one billion but by the time 1999 the balance show a positive number of 300 million, at the same time iMac II shock the computer market again people began to regard him with special respect. Outstanding leadership traits of Steve Jobs Physical and Background Traits Steve Jobs is adopted as referred in the introduction part, this quite influence his personality formulation of his whole childhood, Steve is so clever that he recognized he was adopted when he is very young, this makes him feels it is more dependable of himself than others, because even his biological parents abandon him. In this case he began to become more and more independent and hate the regulation from others and tends to make every decision by himself. For instance, even if his family is not that rich, he insist to go to a private school which charge high fees to study in the best microelectronic school at that time. To everyones surprise, he quit the school which he spent so much effort to get in because he think the homework is stupid and waste of time. Even the school dismissed him, he still stay in the dormitory learn by himself and do the experiment. At last he even cant stand stay in the school, he goes out the campus and get a job in HP. Another trait that make him so success maybe because his environment he stay during his childhood. His family leaves near the famous silicon valley where many great electronic masters work and this affect him so much that he addicted to it and cant help himself out. Whats more, he even lives next to an engineer works in the HP Company and act as his mentor when he is young. This man is worth mention not only because he lead Steve into the magic electronic world but also he introduce him a job in HP and this is so important for Steve because it help Steve to know more about electronic and the business. Personality and Ability Traits Power of dominance. Steve Jobs dominance everything during work including the detail process of production and all employees. No matter you are a common person or a computer genius he can always dominant you, for most people willing or have to obey his direction. For those who insist not follow his idea, he will use everything he can to defeat you to obey his commander. For example, he always question people like, Do you really believe you are right? most people will lose confident at this moment and for those who dont compromise, he will try his best to find out the flow in your work, and gradually destroy your self-confidence and believe he is the person that you have to obey. Steve Jobs use nearly every psychological skill that helps leaders to control others and maintain the leaders dominance. It usually takes two steps to control a person, first, he will use some frightening or even rude way destroy the persons confident makes the person feel like a helpless child. Then, build a parent image for himself to guide him, after these two steps the person will behave in the way Steve told him and grant his own success to Steves great guidance. Jobs have very high skill in giving speech and presentation. There are mainly 7 techniques that Jobs has learned about inspiring his audience; he use all of them to wow his employees, customers, investors, or anyone else he need to motivate. First, Sell dreams, not products. Steve Jobs define his mission as changing the world. When iPod appears on the market in 2001, Jobs said, In our own small way were going to make the world a better place. Where most people see the iPod as a music player, Jobs sees it as tool to enrich peoples lives. Secondà ¯Ã‚ ¼Ã…’Reveal a Holy Smokes moment. There is always one water cooler moment in Steve Jobs presentation. For example, when Jobs unveiled the MacBook Air, what do people remember? They recall that he take computer out from an envelope! The image of a computer sliding in an envelope was immediately unveiled in Apple ads and on the Apple website. The water cooler moment had run according to plan. Share the stage. Few companies are as closely associated with their founders as Apple is with Steve Jobs. But on stage Steve Jobs is far from a one-man show. Jobs introduces partners or customers in every major presentation. If they cant physically share the stage with him, he will roll video clips and testimonials about Apples products. He also introduces employees who deliver sections of the presentation. Whether its designer Jonathan Ive or marketing chief Phil Schiller, employees with particular expertise in one area often share the stage with Jobs. Your audience craves variety. Give it to them. They also want to see teamwork. Show it to them. Task and Social Traits He has the greatest motivation in his work. First 3year when he back to Apple he didnt get any money from the company which equals to stock worth $500 million and insist working 90 hours a week. So, it is the passions on making unique products that are outstanding and change the perspective for consumers. And never give up the passion on Apple even when he caught cancer. Like all of the successful leaders, Jobs has great sociability. When Jobs leaves apple and began to set up a new company and try to get a bank to cooperate, he calls the chairman of Citibank, even it can be done by a manager in a branch-bank, the chairman met him help him solve the problem. Whats more, he also does some charities and send new product to those who he admire by himself. All of these behavior enhance his affected his influence in the public. Outstanding Negotiation Skill à ¥Ã‚ ¤Ã¢â‚¬ ¡Ãƒ ©Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â‚¬ °Ãƒ ¯Ã‚ ¼Ã…’à ¥Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‚ ¼Ãƒ ¥Ã‚ ¾-à ¤Ã‚ ¸Ã¢â€š ¬Ãƒ ¥Ã¢â‚¬  Ã¢â€ž ¢ Striving for perfectionism; Leadership behavior of Steve Jobs Directive leadership behaviors Base on so many anecdotes of Steve Jobs no matter positive or negative, we can clearly see he belongs to directive leaders. He seldomly listen to others opinion and even name others idea as stupid. Like most directive leaders, he set up strict rules to his employee. Those who fail to meet his expectation will be reprimanded. In his mind everyone should listen to his command, not only the employee but also the member of the board. The reason why he leaves apple in the early years is also caused by his directive or even someone calls egocentric. By that time, Apple doesnt have very good business because he insists to develop both software and hardware all by themselves and some other failure decision. While other computer companies like IBM quickly develop and gradually eat Apples market. His directive leadership behaviors annoy the board finally decide to kick him out. Even though the directive leadership brings him a lot of trouble, but his success is also base on it. He knows what t he plan is and how it will work. He is so directive that every employee should follow his commander and do in his way with no excuse otherwise they will be dishonored in public. When we are surfing the internet with a comfortable laptop or enjoy a game using a multi-touch screen cellphone in a subway, we will find out its Jobs directive and perfectionism that make our life so interesting. 4.2 Charismatic and transformational leadership behaviors Magic of the culture is gather a group of people and create a super power. Jobs is the kind of leader who can create such kind of cultural to increase the coherence of the team.1981 Jobs form a new group for the Macintosh computer, until 1982 he gets 20 member in his group and all of them are shrewd, capable, and full of passion like a group of pirate he is the pirate chieftains. He also held a party to implement this culture, in the party he gave everyone a T-shirt with a slogan on the cuff says: 90 Hours A Week And Loving It! He also add some sentence for some people to let them feel how important they are for the company, and some even higher level engineers can even have big meal in the cabin. He create the pirate culture not for fun, his real goal is to motivate the group to work hard to shock the world on May 16, 1983 when the computer fair would be held. All the members looking forward to the advent of products and value the product better than their life. By spreading the pir ate culture he gets a highly motivated group and reaches his goal. He knows how to convince others in in many ways including humiliation and challenging. His language is very irresistible both in speech or when negotiate with investors. Do you want to sell sugar water for the rest of your life, or do you want to come with me and change the world? this sentence which is abounding in sedition governs John Sculley the CEO of Pepsi defect to Apple. This sentence looks like a compliment and also a humiliation, it stimulate Sculley and he suffer from it for several days thinking if he not accept jobs invitation, he will wander weather he made a right decision. In the Inaugural Sulley addresses, the only reason he work for apple is to work with Steve Jobs. Steve Jobs in hospitality industry Even though there are essential differences between hospitality industry and electronics industry, but leadership is relevant. All the industries are managed by people and most essential work is done by person, so leaders of these two industry must sharing some characters or trait with each other. Hospitality industry as a labor intensive industry requires more powerful and skillful leader compared to other industry. Learning from others or even other industries becomes a shot cut for many leaders who want to improve themselves leading skills. Steve jobs as a legend of the electronics industry must be outstanding in leading a company or have some special ability to improve the efficiency of management. After analyzing and abstracting the basic leadership traits and leadership behavior of steve jobs, lets take a further step in exploring the application of steve jobs leadership character in hospitality industry and find out how the current management methods in hospitality industry ca n be improved. As a referred previously in this paper, he is the one who born to change the world. Which means his major character of his leading attributes is about innovation. This character really helps him and Apple Company shows outstanding and produces cutting-edge products. Each time Apple introduce new product into the market, there will be a huge purchase wave appear. As for hospitality industry, is innovation important in big decision making process or even daily operation? The answer will be yes. Implementing innovation in hospitality industry usually happens on the international franchising. In order to adjust itself to a new environment, a leader who have the spirit of innovation will be needed. Not only for the product adjusting but also the service concept changing. Take an example of KFC to illustrate my opinion, as we all know KFC which is one of the most famous fast food company in actually china comes from USA, but KFC seems dont have that much fans in USA compared with China. Bu t when the head company made a decision to penetrate into China market they make huge innovation to both their product and brand image. This turns out to be a big success. From this point of view, Steve jobs leading method is perfectly suit for hospitality industry. When people who had the experience of working with Jobs were asked to conclude him will always refer to his charisma, like some will say the only reason I work in Apple Company is to work with Steve Jobs. Or, his word seem have some magic that you cant refuse he will let you believe he is the only person that will lead you to success. This is a symbol of charismatic or transformational leadership. Jobs even been described as a textbook of charismatic leader who is always assertive, dynamic, outgoing, and often forceful. These characters become more and more apparent as he grows up. Hospitality as a business mainly about produce guest satisfaction has a high demand of this kind of leading style. Hotels need motivated employee to produce high guest satisfaction, and this can be handled perfectly by a charismatic leader. When hotel managers trying to motivate their employees into a good service attitude and positive mood, the manager himself should first behave dynamically and be outgoi ng so that the employees can be infected with his spirits. Imagine that, one hotel manager is depressed and how his employees will behave? His pessimism has the effect of depressing everyone around him because he is the leader the role model of the followers.

Personal Narrative: What Real Friendship Is Essay -- essays research p

When you were still in the kindergarten, friends were the people who romped about with you, played mischievous tricks upon everyone. When you were getting bigger, perhaps at primary school, friends were the people who helped you in your homework, who sung with you at the school choir. Had you forgotten them? Had you betrayed them? Are you a good friend to your friends? A true friend would always tell you the truth, be you best partner when you need him, most of all, support you. It is not right to act suspiciously in front of your friends. Not long ago, my friends were very busy planning a birthday surprise for me. They stopped talking when I drew near and whispered when I was within earshot. They put their work hastily away when I asked what it was. Their act was so suspicious that my curiosity grew. I tried to expose their scheme. I tried to peep into their drawers when they were away at recess. At the end, everyone lost his patience and interest and my friends blamed me. â€Å"It’s all your fault!† Yes, that’s true. I had spoiled their plans, but their motives were suspect with me. Good friends are the people who forgive your mistakes, who stop you from making mistakes and help you when you do. Friends are the people who help you, who offer support and tell you the truth when you need to hear it. Once, my friend Aggie and I had attended a duet contest. We tried different styles and different songs, but none of those satisfied us. I was upset and wanted to give up, but Aggie encouraged me. Finally, we chose the most suitable piece of music for the competition. We practiced and practiced and practiced. Sometimes we only practiced for an hour, while we usually practiced a whole day, kept repeating the same phrase again, again and... ...missed her. Aggie never acknowledged the letter with words, but she did with her behavior. We went from acting like awkward acquaintances to being the friends — and soul mates─,─, that we once were. She began to write me more and more and our conversations went back to the gossipy notes we used to have that made us laugh. She included me in her life and we began a new relationship─,─, a very honest and real relationship. Now it is with laughter and joy. It is hard to believe that after all the years of separation and all that we have been through, how close Aggie and I have become again. Friends are the people who understand you, who walk beside you, who make a difference in your life. They stick with you and stand by you. They hold your hand and watch you live. You learn from them and rely on them. Your life is not the same without them.
